An IPS tag (Internet Provider Security) is used to identify the company in the United Kingdom that registers domains with the .UK extension (.UK, .CO.UK or .ORG.UK). Each registrar receives an IPS-tag, because there are no authorization/EPP codes for .UK domains, in this case, changing the IPS tag is necessary to transfer the domain from one registrar to another.

The IPS tag change must be made by contacting the current domain provider. Once the current provider has changed the IPS tag on the domain, the transfer will be completed.
